Rapha Cycling Club Summit Wuling

Summit Wuling Roadbook

View our guide for all things Summit related, from daily schedules through to emergency contact numbers.

The RCC Summit Wuling is the first to take place in the Asia-Pacific region and, together with local members, we’re excited to welcome you to this part of the world.

Please use this page to plan your Summit – from getting to know the weekend’s routes to making your travel arrangements and ensuring you’ve packed everything you need for your stay.

The Summit takes place on the shores of Sun Moon Lake, one of the most popular places to visit in Taiwan. From there, we will explore the surrounding mountains and countryside.

Please check back regularly as this page will be updated.

If you have not already done so, it is vital that you complete our Summit questionnaire so we can ensure a seamless weekend experience.

The Summit will be based in Hotel del Lago in the Yuchi township, around 250km from Taipei and 60km from Taichung. Each ride will depart from here and most off-bike activities will take place in the hotel. An RCC hospitality desk will be staffed daily to answer any questions and there will be secure bike parking available all weekend. Professional mechanics will also be on hand for any last minute adjustments or fixes you may need. All services based in the hotel are available for all of our guests, whether they’re staying in Del Lago or any of the other hotels nearby.

If you have booked a place in a double room and have a preferred club mate to share with - ensure you have both named each other as your room mate on the Summit questionnaire to avoid disappointment.

If you have already submitted your questionnaire but would like to update your room sharing preference then please email rcc@rapha.cc.

If you’re not staying in Hotel del Lago, look for places within a couple of kilometres of the venue for ease of access before and after the rides. There are plenty of options in the area across most price ranges, but be sure to book early as it is a popular destination. If you're staying elsewhere, you can still keep your bike at the secure bike storage in the Summit hotel if needed.

The transfers will depart at 9am and return to arrive in Taipei at about 3pm. We will contact everyone closer to the date to share full details. There will be space for both you and your bike on the transfer.

Bike Hire

There will be a limited number of Giant bikes for hire for the duration of the Summit at a cost of £120 for the weekend. The bike will be waiting for you at the Summit hotel.

If you hire one of these bikes, please remember to bring your helmet, pedals, bidons and bike computer with you. Hire bikes will be guaranteed on a first come, first served basis, and we will not have access to any other hire bikes. Due to the limited numbers, please research options to bring your own bike with you.

A feature in every RCC summit, the annual championship is a fun and relaxed competition to cap off the weekend. This year’s test will be a timed hill-climb up a classic local road. Whether riding or cheering from the roadside, the Summit Championship is always an excellent event.

November in Wuling sees cooling temperatures, with daily highs reaching high 20s and lows just under 20C. We should be prepared for moderate rain and changing conditions so versatile clothing will be required.
The area is known for the challenging climbing so please consider appropriate gearing. We recommend 11-32 with 50/34 or 11-32 with 53/34. More experienced climbers may prefer 11-30 with 52/36.

To ensure that everyone has a fun and safe weekend, we encourage club members to treat this as a club weekend, and not as a Rapha Travel trip. You should pre-load ride routes onto your bike computer, and be prepared to build and break down your bike. The routes will be available in October.
On the first day of the Summit, we’ll go through some advice about riding in groups as well as the local highway code.

The RCC hospitality desk will be manned all day by RCC team members. Be it the location of dinner for a particular evening, or the finer details of your schedule for the day, you’ll find the answer here.

For those who can arrive earlier, we have organised some additional programming in Taipei. * Book your place here.

Thursday 1 November

7am–10am: Photography ride to experience a true Taipei classic Balaka road. Meet at the Clubhouse, from where we head to the beautiful Yangmingshan National Park. A long climb will lead us to magnificent views across the northern part of Taiwan before flying back down to the city. By then the Clubhouse will have opened for a late morning coffee break.

7pm–9pm: A Social ride across Taipei, to experience its unique nightlife and famous night markets. You can either bring your own bike, or use one of the YouBikes stationed all over the city. Come visit the clubhouse to borrow an EasyCard for the hire!
If you arrive before Thursday, check out the clubhouse calendar and join the regular programming and rides offered.

*Cost is not included in the Summit price. Additional charges may apply.
