Community at the Core
Together with Patta, we’re proud to announce the launch of the Patta Cycling Team – an Amsterdam-based amateur cycling squad determined to increase representation and diversity in the sport.
From a small Black-owned sneaker store in Amsterdam to an internationally renowned streetwear brand, Patta stands for far more than just clothing. Since the beginning, they’ve put purpose over profit to speak up for and support the diverse communities they represent – and now, they’re looking to shake up the cycling world with a new team that places community at its core.
INTRODUCING THE PATTA CYCLING TEAM
In the Netherlands, Patta’s home, cycling is one of the country’s biggest sports – but there’s a distinct lack of diversity amongst those who ride. Formed with a mission to inspire people of all backgrounds to take to two wheels, the Patta Cycling Team has partnered with Rapha to create role models that inspire the next generation of cyclists while making the sport accessible to anyone, however and wherever they choose.
THE PATTA 150
This year, 1st July marks 160 years since the abolition of slavery in the former Dutch colonies of Suriname and the Netherlands Antilles, and 150 years since enslaved people in Suriname were fully freed. To mark the day, the Patta Cycling Team will host rides of 50km, 100km, and 150km in Amsterdam – and invite you to take part. Alone or with your crew, simply head out for a ride on the day and share your experiences by tagging #Patta150 in your posts.
