Kaende Kaende

Kaende Kaende (Swahili for ‘full gas’) is a short film capturing The Cape Epic mountain bike stage race in South Africa.

In March 2024 EF Education-Easypost’s Lachlan Morton and Team AMANI’s Jordan Schleck paired up to ride this gruelling week of racing. Jordan is one of East Africa's brightest young talents and is representing Team AMANI this season at the Lifetime Grand Prix series in the US, so Cape Epic was the perfect training ground.

"He [Lachlan] gives you what he knows and it can help you to achieve more things. I'm not the best in the world, but at home I'm the best. I'm just here to gauge myself and make myself better." - Jordan

It’s a collaboration born out of Lachlan’s involvement with Team AMANI since racing against and becoming friends with the team’s co-founder, the late Sule Kangangi. The Australian is something of a pioneer in bike racing, having been at the forefront of off-road adventure riding and chasing long-distance FKTs. It’s a perfect fit that the People’s Champ should be closely involved with another project pursuing progress in the sport – Team AMANI.

"We created an environment where riders can learn and test themselves. I think it's a very pure project that is driven by the riders." - Lachlan

Kaende Kaende is Swahili for ‘full gas’ and is the name Jordan and his teammates gave to Lachlan during his trips to Iten, Kenya. Alongside offering a close-up of racing at Cape Epic, the film also gives an insight into the work Jordan, Lachlan and the rest of Team AMANI and the Black Mamba Development Squad are doing from their base in Iten.

"Nothing good comes easy. You have to put in more good work. I want to see a change in my cycling career. And, to motivate a lot of young kids out there." - Jordan

The experience of Cape Epic wasn’t just about high altitude and technical singletrack. This film captures the suffering, discovery and the bond the pair built riding one of the world’s most gruelling bike races.

The Team AMANI collection will launch throughout June 10–14th. Sign up here to be notified first and click below to discover more about Lachlan and Jordan’s respective teams.
