Manchester to London Preparation
Emma Osenton, co-creator of the Manchester to London route, provides some intriguing advice on long distance riding, in preparation for the event.
18 - 19 June, 2022220 miles, two days, one worthy cause. Join us on the 18-19 June with challenge hosts Ambitious about Autism in support of local autism charities across the globe.
Supporting autisic children and young people has always been a cause close to our hearts. Rapha’s founder Simon Mottram’s son is autistic, and in pursuit of a proper challenge to raise money for charity Ambitious about Autism, the annual 220-mile Manchester to London ride was realised. To open up the ride to the rest of the world, Rapha then set out our self-guided riding challenge, Ambitious 220, tasking our global community to complete their own carefully laid out 220-mile route, wherever they are in the world, to raise money for one common cause. This year, both the M2L ride and the global Ambitious 220 are back as we club together in support of something far bigger.
This year’s Ambitious 220 is hosted by UK based charity Ambitious about Autism, but there is also the option to fundraise for local autism charities too. So on the 18-19 June, take on the challenge, plot your route and get ready to ride in support of autism charities around the world. And in honour of your achievement, all finishers will receive a limited edition Ambitious 220 Rapha Cap after the challenge to celebrate your ride.
The best rides are those that make a real difference. Take a look at our photo gallery from last year, featuring the riders that raised the all-important funds and undertook the challenge.
Rapha’s founder, Simon Mottram, is a passionate advocate of the charity Ambitious about Autism. Simon understands the challenges this condition poses and created the annual Manchester to London ride to support the charity that helped his son reach his full potential.
"Ambitious about Autism is a truly remarkable organisation. They have been a huge support to my wife and me and to my son Oscar over many years through Treehouse School and more recently Ambitious College. Their passion, expertise and, perhaps most of all, their sheer ambition makes a vital difference to all the families whose lives they touch and I'm very proud to be one of their ambassadors."

With a design inspired by the rider’s shifting state of mind when covering long distances, we’ve created a technical, mid-weight jersey to mark the occasion. Emblazoned with the event’s 220-mile distance, the Ambitious 220 Jersey is the perfect piece of kit to commemorate this summer riding challenge.
